SO YOU'RE INTERESTED IN BECOMING AN APPRAISER ...
The following is a brief summary regarding the two different levels of appraiser certification, along with education and experience requirements.
The Board is currently accepting application for State Certified Residential Appraiser and State Certified General AppraiserвЂ¦ The following identifies the scope of practice for each of the referenced certification levels to assist in determining what level of real estate appraiser certification you wish to apply for:
- A State Licensed Appraiser is authorized to appraiser non-complex, one-to-four family residential property having a transaction value of less than $1,000,000; and complex one-to-four family residential property having a transaction value of less than $250,000.
- A State Certified Residential Appraiser can appraise all types of one-to-four family residential property without regard to transaction value or complexity and other types of real property having a transaction value less than two hundred fifty thousand dollars (see OAR 161-025-0005 for exclusions regarding other types of auto insurance or real property).
- A State Certified General Appraiser can appraise all types of real property.
